Often times, if your theme has a problem, there are quite a few easy things you can do in order to determine whether WordPress, plugins, or the theme is causing the problem.
Here are the steps to take in order to test what is causing the problem. We ask that you first take these steps prior to submitting a support request.
- Are you running the latest version of your theme?
Oftentimes, there might already be a fix for your problem through a newer version of your theme. To see which version of your theme you are running, open up your your WordPress dashboard, navigate to Appearance > Themes and you will see the version number listed next to your theme. You can download the newest version of your theme here. Look for it under “Available Downloads.”
- Deactivate the WordPress plugins folder.
This can be done easily just by renaming the “plugins” folder inside of the wp-content folder. You can rename it anything, even “plugins-test” will be fine. Once you have done this, see if the problem is still there. This will isolate whether the theme is causing the problem, or a plugin is causing the problem. If a plugin is causing the problem, you will need to deactivate all of your plugins and re-activate them one by one in order to see what is causing the problem. If a particular plugin is causing a problem, please contact the plugin developer as we do not support third party plugins.
- Re-install the theme.
It also is possible that your theme installation may not have completed. Re-download your theme, unzip it, and replace it and re-activate it. You can re-download your theme here. - Re-install WordPress.
Your WordPress installation may be damaged, so the best thing to do is re-install WordPress. You can download WordPress here. See here for WordPress setup instructions. - Export your posts and setup a fresh installation of WordPress.
This is the last step in order to resolve the problem. To export the posts, go to your WordPress Dashboard > Tools > Export. This will export a WXR file to your desktop. You will import this into your new installation of WordPress. This will almost always fix the problem you are having. - Search the Support Forum.
Oftentimes, a question you have has already been asked by another member. You can search the support forum here.
If you have followed all of these steps and you still are having problems, please visit our Support Forum and post your question.
We look forward to serving you!
